Depart Nairobi for the eastern Rift Valley escarpment and down onto the Rift Valley floor on your way to Lake Naivasha and the Sopa Resort (1.5 hours), where you’ll arrive mid-morning.

Sopa Resort is located close to the lake shore and you are likely to see colobus monkeys, bushbuck, zebra and giraffe wandering the grounds. The main building has a restaurant and lounge and fireplaces for the cool Naivasha evenings, the rooms are spacious, Swahili style chalets either with a balcony or a glass fronted lounge area for relaxing and wildlife viewing.

After lunch you’ll head out on a boat safari across the lake where you may see hippos and many species of birds including fish eagles, pelicans and sometimes flamingos, you will also stop off at Crescent Island for a nature walk before returning to the lodge for the evening where you will have dinner and watch the hippos come up from the lake to graze in Sopa’s grounds.

After an early breakfast, your driver will take you to the open grassland of the Masai Mara (4.5 hours). Rich in biodiversity and home to a large variety of bird species and wildlife, the Masai Mara offers great game viewing and bird-watching opportunities.

You’ll arrive in time for lunch at Basecamp, a small-tented camp with just 12 tents located on the banks of the Talek river. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a solar heated hot water shower and a private terrace area overlooking the river. After lunch you’ll head out for a game drive in the reserve, then return to camp for dinner.

The next day will be spent on a full day game drive, with a picnic lunch, to explore the savannahs of the Maasai Mara and track down all the Big Five, you’ll then return to camp for a sundowner and dinner

After an early morning game drive, you’ll head back to camp for breakfast, then depart Basecamp for Nairobi late morning with a picnic lunch (5.5 hours), on arrival in Nairobi you’ll be dropped at your preferred location.
